Development Manager

About The Role

The Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, organization, and performance of the Ghost Modifications Development Department. This position serves as the primary leadership role for developers and is responsible for ensuring development projects are completed efficiently, professionally, and according to Ghost Modifications standards.

The Development Manager works closely with Executive Staff, Project Managers, Developers, and other departments to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and deliver development projects. The position provides leadership across areas including FiveM development, vehicle and car models, MLO development, EUP, scripts, server assets, optimization, and other technical projects.

The Development Manager is expected to maintain a professional development environment, establish project expectations, review developer work, assist with troubleshooting, and ensure that all released products meet Ghost Modifications quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the Ghost Modifications Development Department.
• Provide leadership, direction, and support to all developers assigned to the department.
• Assign development projects and tasks based on developer experience, specialization, and availability.
• Create and maintain development schedules, project deadlines, and production priorities.
• Monitor the progress of active development projects and provide regular updates to Executive Staff.
• Review completed and ongoing development work for quality, functionality, optimization, and compliance with company standards.
• Ensure all FiveM resources, vehicles, MLOs, EUP, scripts, and other assets are properly tested before release.
• Coordinate development projects involving multiple developers or departments.
• Identify technical problems, development delays, quality issues, and potential project risks.
• Assist developers with troubleshooting, debugging, optimization, and technical problem-solving when appropriate.
• Establish and enforce development standards, workflows, documentation requirements, and quality-control procedures.
• Ensure developers properly organize project files, resources, assets, and documentation.
• Maintain development project records and track project completion.
• Conduct development reviews and provide constructive feedback to developers.
• Assist with onboarding and training new developers.
• Evaluate developer performance and provide recommendations regarding promotions, additional responsibilities, or corrective action.
• Work with Executive Staff to determine development priorities and upcoming projects.
• Help establish realistic development timelines and communicate changes when deadlines cannot be met.
• Review development requests submitted by clients, departments, or internal staff.
• Determine the appropriate developer or development team for each project.
• Ensure client and company information is handled professionally and confidentially.
• Assist with quality assurance and testing before products are released to customers or the public.
• Ensure development work complies with Ghost Modifications intellectual-property, licensing, and asset-use requirements.
• Help prevent unauthorized use, redistribution, theft, or improper release of Ghost Modifications development assets.
• Maintain a professional and productive environment within the Development Department.
• Address internal development conflicts, performance concerns, and workflow issues.
• Participate in department meetings and company-wide leadership meetings when requested.
• Assist Executive Staff with long-term development planning and expansion of Ghost Modifications services.
• Stay current with FiveM development practices, tools, frameworks, optimization techniques, and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in FiveM development, game development, 3D development, or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of FiveM development and the resources commonly used within FiveM servers.
• Demonstrated experience working with one or more development areas such as scripts, vehicles, MLOs, EUP, maps, models, textures, or server resources.
• Previous leadership, management, supervisory, or team-lead experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and developers simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to establish priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to review technical work and identify quality or functionality issues.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a development team.
• Understanding of development workflows, testing procedures, version control, and project organization.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and professionally address performance issues.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to learn new development tools, technologies, frameworks, and workflows.
• Professional attitude and ability to represent Ghost Modifications appropriately.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding company projects, unreleased products, client information, and proprietary development assets.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing a FiveM development team.
• Experience developing or managing FiveM servers.
• Experience with Lua, JavaScript, C#, HTML, or CSS.
• Experience with Blender, 3ds Max, ZModeler, CodeWalker, OpenIV, or comparable development software.
• Experience developing FiveM MLOs, vehicles, EUP, YMAPs, scripts, or other custom assets.
• Experience with Git or other version-control systems.
• Experience with project-management platforms such as Trello, Jira, GitHub, or similar systems.
• Experience working with commercial FiveM development or modification companies.
• Previous experience managing client-based development projects.
