Director of Development

About The Role

The Director of Development is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the development operations of Ghost Modifications. This position manages development teams, coordinates technical projects, establishes development standards, and ensures that all products released by Ghost Modifications meet the company's quality, performance, and professional standards.

The Director of Development works closely with Executive Leadership, Development Leads, and individual Developers to plan, organize, and deliver FiveM-related products and services, including MLOs, vehicle models, EUP, scripts, liveries, mapping assets, and other custom modifications.

The Director of Development is responsible for maintaining an organized development environment while ensuring projects remain on schedule and developers have the resources and guidance necessary to successfully complete their work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Ghost Modifications Development Department.
• Manage and coordinate Developers, Development Leads, and specialized development teams.
• Establish development standards, procedures, and quality-control requirements.
• Assign development projects and responsibilities to appropriate team members.
• Monitor the progress of active development projects.
• Establish project deadlines and ensure development milestones are met.
• Review completed work before products are released to customers or the public.
• Ensure all development work meets Ghost Modifications quality standards.
• Coordinate the development of FiveM MLOs, vehicles, EUP, scripts, liveries, maps, and other assets.
• Oversee testing and quality assurance for new products.
• Identify technical problems, development issues, and performance concerns.
• Work with developers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain organization of development files, project resources, and production assets.
• Ensure developers follow established company policies and development procedures.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating prospective developers.
• Train and mentor new and existing development staff.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to development personnel.
• Recommend promotions, disciplinary actions, or removal of development staff when appropriate.
• Maintain communication between the Development Department and Executive Leadership.
• Provide regular development updates and project reports to company leadership.
• Coordinate with Marketing and Management regarding upcoming product releases.
• Assist with determining development priorities based on customer demand and company objectives.
• Research new FiveM development technologies, tools, and techniques.
• Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the Development Department.
• Ensure company assets are properly tested for functionality, optimization, and compatibility.
• Protect proprietary Ghost Modifications development files, resources, and intellectual property.
• Ensure developers do not distribute or misuse company-owned assets.
• Help establish development documentation and technical standards.
• Assist Executive Leadership with long-term development planning.
• Represent the Development Department professionally within the Ghost Modifications community.
• Perform other development and leadership duties assigned by Executive Leadership.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in FiveM development or modification development.
• Strong understanding of the FiveM platform and GTA V modification environment.
• Experience managing or leading development teams is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of FiveM development workflows and production processes.

• Preferred Experience
• 2+ years of FiveM development experience.
• Previous experience as a Developer, Senior Developer, Development Lead, or similar position.
• Experience managing multiple developers or development teams.
• Experience releasing FiveM products commercially.
• Experience with optimization and performance testing.
• Experience managing large-scale FiveM projects.
• Experience working with Git or other version-control systems.
• Experience developing custom assets for roleplay communities or commercial FiveM customers.
• Leadership Expectations
• The Director of Development is expected to lead by example, maintain a professional development environment, and hold the Development Department to a high standard of quality and accountability.
• The Director must be capable of balancing technical development with personnel management, project coordination, quality assurance, and the overall business objectives of Ghost Modifications.
• The Director of Development reports directly to Executive Leadership and may oversee Development Leads, Senior Developers, Developers, and specialized development teams as assigned.
